اهلاً و سهلاً (“Ahlan Wa Sahlan”)
Hello and welcome to my personal website. The words above, أهلاً وسهلاً, “Ahlan Wa Sahlan,” are a very old Arabic greeting that can be roughly translated, “you’re like my family, be at ease,” or even more basically, “welcome!”
This site has been designed to serve both professional and personal purposes. Here you will find a short biography, information on and resources for my research and teaching activities, a photographic portfolio, contact details, and a somewhat rambling and eclectic blog.
It is important to note that I consider this site to be a workshop/laboratory rather than a finished product: design and features will change as I try out new things, and the content of blog posts, posted papers, etc. will likewise follow an experimental or “thinking out loud” pattern as works-in-progress rather than represent polished formal academic treatises. I reserve the right to change my opinion on any matter, and will do my best to include updated notes on any content for which I now think differently. Hopefully some of the ideas first expressed and developed here will find fruition in more formal publications.
This site is my personal contribution to the broader RohlFamily.com network. If you’re a friend or family member, please be sure to check out the other sites to see what we’re all up to.
